Backup & Restore
When you register onto Siccura a pair of encryption keys (Private and Public) keys are generated. The private key remains in the app, and it is the one that we advise to be packed up. This is the Private key unlocks all your messages and content within Siccura. Without this key, your communications and content will remain encrypted and undecipherable within Siccura.
We advise you to take a backup of this key if you want to register onto the app on another device. You will be able to store your backed up Private key on our cloud storage or one of your choice. However,
We cannot guarantee the security protocols of third party service providers.
We advise that you take a backup of your private key and store it for safety on our cloud storage, or somewhere of your choice.
By taking a backup of your Private Key, the next time you register onto Siccura on another device, the key will be restored for you to read all your messages and data that had previously been exchanged.
To take a backup of the encryption key please follow the instructions listed below:
- Go into Settings, and tap on “Backup Key”
- You’ll be prompted to choose an area where you want your keys to be stored once they have been successfully backed up.
- You can store your keys on the Cloud storage we provide, or one of your choice.
- Once you have decided where you want to store your backed-up keys, you will be asked to create and set a password.
- Once the keys have been backed up you will be able to locate the folder in that area.
The next time your register onto Siccura on another device, the app will ask you whether you want to restore your keys. If you select “Yes”, you will need to enter the password that you have created at the time of taking the back up. Once you have entered the correct password, your keys will be restored into account sitting on your new device.
Encryption
We believe that your communications and data should be protected from the moment you create it. Siccura is using Encryption technology to ensure that all your Emails, SMS, Instant Messages and data that you send and share through the software is fully protected and unreadable for third party service providers.
Siccura encrypts all the Instant Messages, SMS, Emails and files that you share within the software. We also encrypt and convert into undecipherable number which we call “Hash values” the data that you had entered at the time of registering onto Siccura.
Your name, mobile number and email addresses that you had set for password recovery purposes are converted into Hash values so that we and nor anyone else can identify it.
Government Surveillance
We believe that privacy is not a feature, but a constitutional right. That is why we have developed a product that is designed to protect and secure our user’s communications Siccura holds a Zero-Knowledge policy and believes that all communications and data should remain in the hands of the users. Siccura was developed and built on the single principle of giving control back to its users.
No, the government cannot read your protected communications or data files unless it has the encryption keys.
Siccura uses the most advanced encryption available. It uses a proprietary method of encryption, which means that even Siccura doesn’t have access to your emails, IM, SMS, calls or data. Siccura will not be able to read your content because it doesn’t have content – and others (including the government) will not be able to read your data because they don’t have the keys.
If Siccura receives a request from the United Kingdom Government for your encryption keys, then we will require the government to go to court, and if we can we will notify you.
If we receive a request from the UK government, we will respond by saying that we will not comply with any request other than a court order from a court with Jurisdiction over us. We will then notify you that we have received such request unless we are prohibited by law from doing so, so that you may have an opportunity to defend your rights to keep your data confidential.
